Humanitarian missions in Somalian
Abu Dhabi - Emirates Voice

Zayed Giving Convoys have concluded their humanitarian, diagnostic, surgical and preventative missions in Somalian villages with the treatment of thousands of children and elderly patients under the supervision of a UAE-Somalian voluntary medical team.

The mission is a joint initiative of Zayed Giving, the Dar Al Ber Society, the Sharjah Charity House, the Saudi-German Hospitals Group and the Emirates Volunteering Centre, in coordination with Somalian health and humanitarian organisations.

Dr. Adnan Sayed Abdou, Representative of the Somalian Ministry of Health, praised the advanced equipment and trained workforce of the UAE-Somalian volunteer hospital, which reflects the efforts of the UAE in easing the suffering of patients. He also stressed the importance of mobile hospitals in treating the underprivileged.

He thanked the Zayed Giving Initiative and the UAE-Somalian medical team for their charity initiatives that support various humanitarian programmes in different sectors for those in need, especially children and the elderly.

He stressed that the medical delegation was welcomed and appreciated in Somalia for their programmes in various sectors of the community. They also played a major role in the early detection of communicable diseases and limiting their spread through mobile clinics and hospitals, considered the first of its kind in Somalia.

He said that a joint UAE-Somalian team was formed to supervise the medical programme, which will continue for a year and cover many regions and villages in the country.

Dr. Adel Al Shameri, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, mentioned that the Zayed Giving Convoys managed to offer free preventative treatment to thousands of patients under the supervision of 50 volunteers. They also organised numerous awareness and preventative programmes, which reached many people across the country.
