The Commander of King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH) Major-General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Attiyattallah Al Khalifa announced today that the KHUH Ophthalmology Department has successfully performed more than 120 myopia (short eyesight) correction surgical (RELAX) procedures using the VIMTO-II-LASER device. Major-General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Attiyattallah Al Khalifa pointed out that the latest technology increases the speed of treating myopia (i.e. short eyesight) . Dr. Moumin Al-Reefi, consultant ophthalmologist, said that such operations take only ten minutes to perform and that this has been attained after development of performance levels aimed to deliver various medical and therapeutic services to patients so that they can enjoy 6/6 eyesight, and return to their normal daily activities immediately after the procedure. A scientific research paper was presented regarding details of this advanced technology, currently adopted by the KHUH, to the Ophthalmic Surgeons Annual Conference early this month in Milan, Italy, and was received with wide acclamation from participating doctors.
