The number of patients put under quarantine in La Paz-Carlos III hospital in Madrid with suspicions of being infected with the Ebola virus, rose to 14 people on Friday.
Spain's TV quoted health officials saying that the condition of the Spanish nurse who was diagnosed with the virus last Monday had worsened, without much hope for her to be cured.
Most of the other 13 people in the quarantine are of the medical staff who supervised the treatment of the infected nurse. The quarantined staff were also in charge of two Spanish priests that caught the virus while they were in West Africa last September, however, the two died after being transferred to the Carlos III hospital.
The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the conditions of another ten of the hospital's staff who came in contact with the nurse, which became the first recorded case of the Ebola virus in Europe and outside of Africa.
Meanwhile, the country has announced an urgent safety protocol last Monday to prevent the virus from spreading among citizens.
