The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) closed 17 fast food and shawerma restaurants for health violations and destroyed 1,600 kilogrammes of chicken unfit for human consumption over the first two days of Eid Al Fitr in Amman and Irbid. JFDA Director General Hayel Obeidat said on Monday that eight of the 17 restaurants were in the capital, while the other nine were in Irbid. Obeidat said that by destroying 1,200 kilogrammes of chicken in Irbid restaurants and 400 kilogrammes in Amman, JFDA teams have protected over 80,000 people from the risk of food poisoning.
