24-hour police office opened in Abu Dhabi hospital

Police have opened a 24-hour investigation office at Mafraq Hospital to help victims of abuse, violence or accidents to easily lodge complaints. When an injured person comes, he has to go to the police station to file a complaint after receiving treatment,\" said Khalifa Al Kaeli, the director of patients affairs at Mafraq Hospital. \"Now we want to help so victims can go to the police directly in our office.\" Abu Dhabi Police said officers could even visit patients in their rooms, if necessary, to complete the formalities. \"The office has started to offer services 24/7, registering declarations and domestic injuries to enhance the quality of services by facilitating and minimising procedures for the hospital\'s patients,\" said Lt Col Jasim Al Hossani, head of investigation affairs at Abu Dhabi\'s Outer Areas Police Department. The hospital said it received up to 12 patients a day who had to go to the police station after treatment. Mr Al Kaeli said the facility had been set up for all patients who needed to approach the police to report their injuries or seek legal recourse. \"The investigation office at the hospital will finalise the legal procedures, without the need to go to the investigation offices at the police stations,\" he said.
