4000 dengue cases with 10 deaths in Metro Manila as of mid-July

The number of dengue cases in Metro Manila, Philippines surpassed 4,000-level from January to July this year with 10 deaths, the latest data released by the Department of Health (DOH) showed. Eduardo Janairo, director of the DOH-National Capital Region ( DOH-NCR), said Thursday that the 4,042 dengue cases from January 1 to July 13 was 68 percent lower compared to the same period of last year with 12,648. \"Ages of cases ranged from one month to 79 years old. Most affected was the 15 49 years age-group. Majority were male. There were ten deaths reported,\" he said. Quezon City has the most number of cases with 957, followed by Manila City with 642 and Caloocan City with 477, the official added. The DOH has intensified its campaign against dengue by posting anti-dengue posters in strategic areas and leaflets with information on the prevention and control of the disease.
