
Five new Sovaldi disbursement centers, affiliated to National Committee for the Control of Viral Hepatitis, for eligible Hepatitis C patients were added to bring the total number to 21 centers nationwide, announced the Health Ministry on Thursday.
The locations for the centers to disburse the Hepatitis C-treating drug are the Ahmed Maher Hospital in Cairo, the Aswan Fever Hospital, the Damanhur Hospital in Behira, the Shebin Fever Hospital in Menoufiya and the Suez Fever Hospital.
Egypt has the highest prevalence of the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the world, with 14 percent of the population infected and 11.8 million patients, according to the World Health Organization.
