72 dengue cases reported in Pakistan

At least 72 dengue cases have been reported across Sindh in southern Pakistan during last 24 hours. As per media reports, total number of affected persons have risen to 1242, according to Pakistan\'s (Dunya News). Officials have warned that the number of patients suffering from dengue fever is going up with the passage of time as weather is changing from summer to winter. They assured that hospital management is trying to arrange every kind of precautionary measures in order to cope with this challenging issue but at the same time, it is duty of the masses to play their pivotal role in this regard. Dengue affects between 50 and 100 million people in the tropics and subtropics each year, resulting in fever, muscle and joint ache. But it can also be fatal, developing into haemorrhagic fever and shock syndrome, which is characterised by bleeding and a loss of blood pressure. Caused by four strains of virus spread by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, there is no vaccine which is why prevention methods focus on mosquito control.
