Algeria and Cuba sign 2 agreements in field of health

Two agreements were signed Tuesday in Algiers between Algeria and Cuba in the field of health for sending Cuban medical teams to Algeria, said Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform.
The first agreement is about sending a multidisciplinary medical team to strengthen maternal and child health programme in five southern and High Plateaus provinces, namely Adrar, Ghardaia, Ouargla, El Bayedh and Naama.
The second agreement deals with the sending of a medical team specialized in ophthalmology to reinforce the staff of El Ouad Hospital, built by Cubans as part of Algerian-Cuban partnership.
Cuban Deputy Minister in charge of Public Health Marcia Cobas told APS, on the sidelines of the agreements’ inking that the Cuban medical team will be responsible for boosting health sector in the concerned cities, to provide better care to the populations of the South and High Plateaus.   
The agreement also aims at reducing the patients’ waiting time by shortening the time between diagnosis and treatment, she added.
