The Interior Ministry on Sunday quashed social media reports that drugs were found in sweets in an Al-Ahmadi governorate shop, terming them as "groundless".
Examining the substance at the criminal labs through cooperation between the General Department for Drug Control and the General Department for Criminal Evidence, it was discovered to be neither drugs nor any other prohibited material, but medical pills, said a statement by the Ministry's Security Information Department.
It added that investigation would continue to find why the anti-allergy pills were put in the sweets, urging verification of security news so as not to arouse concern among citizens and residents.
