Backlash after mom say she washes 3-month-old once a week

Once a U.S. mother revealed she only bathed her 3-month-old son once a week, or even every 10 days, international reaction was swift and harsh. After Massachusetts mom Claire Goss wrote the post \"Do You Actually Need to Bathe Baby,\" on the blog Babble.com she received a viral backlash with many calling her lazy and gross, ABC News reported. The mother of three said daily baths were the rule when she had her first child, but when her second child started to have dry skin due to daily baths the child\'s pediatrician recommended bathing baby less often. The 32-year-old mother told ABC News she aimed to bathe her infant once a week, but sometimes it can be 10 days before she grabs the baby bathtub. Many moms disagree and said both mother and child are missing the bonding opportunities of a warm nighttime bath, while others say babies get too dirty to skip a daily bath. Goss pointed out the Mayo Clinic agreed with her and her pediatrician. The Mayo Clinic\'s website said under: \"Baby bath basics: A parent\'s guide:\" \"There\'s no need to give your newborn a bath every day. In fact, bathing your baby more than several times a week can dry out his or her skin. If you\'re quick with clean diapers and burp cloths, you\'re already cleaning the parts that really need attention -- the face, neck and diaper area.\"
