
The Head of Arabian Gulf University (AGU)'s Family, Community Medicine Department also the Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the Bahrain Health Insurance Forum/Expo2014, Dr. Faisal Abdullatif Al-Nasser, said that preparations are well underway ahead of the forum/expo.
The forum/expo is scheduled to be organized in the period 28-30 December under the auspices of Lt-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa the Minister of State for Defence Affairs cum President of the Supreme Council for Health, Dr. Faisal added.
He said that the forum/expo aims to spread awareness about the nationwide comprehensive health insurance scheme approved by the Cabinet which would be implemented in upcoming years and to increase awareness of citizens and residents as well as the relevant bodies.
The forum/expo is expected to attract large participation from the Executive Office of GCC Health Ministers' Council, and representatives of Dr. Tawfiq bin Ahmed Khoja the Executive Director, the World Health Organisation (WHO), governmental bodies, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), local insurance companies, hospitals, private clinics and other organisations.
The forum/expo aims to review best international experiences in application of similar schemes in order to accomplish maximum benefit from such experiences, to crystallize in proposed recommendations from all the relevant bodies, and primarily to create and boost health insurance awareness and its role in protection of human lives, properties, healthcare and to appraise the scheme's impact in terms of boosting resources.
