
Bahrain has taken preventive measures against Ebola virus, a senior official from the Ministry of Health has said.
Bahrain Health Ministry’s Undersecretary Dr. Ayesha Mubarak Bu Unq told Al Ayam daily, the Ministry had taken preventative measures against Ebola virus, a Bahrain News Agency report said Monday.
The ministry is co-ordinating with the Directorate of Immigration and Passports to ascertain from travellers whether they had passed through any of the Ebola-infested countries and examine them at the Airport Clinic, she said.
She also said that the Ministry has a contingency plan for screening, lab testing, diagnosis, quarantining and treatment of any suspicious case(s), Blood specimens will be sent to the US Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
The Ministry has formed Quick Response Teams to deal with such cases in addition to a comprehensive plan to deal with cases before, during and after the Hajj season.
The Undersecretary also said that an urgent GCC Health Ministry’s Council meeting will be held to discuss unified GCC precautionary health measures after the World Health Organisation (WHO) had declared a state of emergency to counter Ebola virus.
