
The Saudi Ministry of Health announced on Saturday that one person died of, and four others tested positive for, the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS or coronavirus) in the last 24 hours. A woman succumbed to her illness in Riyadh while two men in the southwestern city of Al-Qunfuthah, a woman in Riyadh and a man in Jeddah contracted the infection, the Ministry said in a statement on its website. The figures took the total number of confirmed cases to 558, and the fatalities to 179, since the outbreak of the disease in the Kingdom in 2012
