The Public Health and Safety Department at Dubai Municipality, in collaboration with Dubai Police, Civil Defence and Dubai Ambulance Service, have conducted a mock evacuation drill at the Al Manara Center of Dubai Municipality.
The move was aimed at educating employees and visitors to the centre on how to deal with situations of fire and other accidents in a public service building.
Marwan Al Mohamed, Director of Public Health and Safety Department, said the municipality is keen to ensure the safety of its employees, customers and residents of the Emirate of Dubai in different unforeseen situations. This drive is a part of its various ongoing safety experiments in different locations and premises.
Mock drills also aim to improve and ensure the readiness of all concerned parties and reduce injuries and fatalities in such cases, as well as to identify any future or developmental needs and to identify strengths and weaknesses through an assessment process, solving all shortcomings for the parties involved to be ready if any similar incident happens.
Sultan Al Suwaidi, Head of the Public Safety Section, said the experiment was completed successfully, and the evacuation of around 195 employees and visitors of the centre was carried out successfully in 13 minutes.
