An Ebola patient has been admitted to the Frankfurt University Hospital in Germany Friday morning, according to German media Spiegel Online.
The patient was transported to Frankfurt Airport overnight by air ambulance and taken to the University Hospital of Frankfurt where they are in quarantine.
After landing, an ambulance carrying the patient was escorted to the hospital by the police and the fire brigade.
The patient is a Belgian pediatrician who had been working in Sierra Leone and contracted the Ebola virus while there, the German "Bild" newspaper reported Thursday.
The Belgian aid worker is the second person infected with Ebola to be treated in Germany. On Aug. 27, a man working in West Africa was admitted to the University Hospital in Hamburg-Eppendorf and is still being treated there.
