
Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian man who was the first patient to be diagnosed with Ebola outside of Africa, died of the disease in a US hospital Wednesday.
'Mr Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola,' a statement from the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas said.
The 42-year-old was infected with the Ebola virus in Liberia, but did not begin to show symptoms of the disease until a few days after his arrival in Texas on September 20.
Duncan was the first person to be diagnosed with Ebola outside of Africa.
