Abu Dhabi - WAM

Eton Institute, the largest language training and professional development institute in the UAE, has announced that its CEO, Dr. Eli Abi Rached, has successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in a fundraising effort to help support the Friends of Cancer Patients charitable organization. The challenge formed part of the institute\'s corporate social responsibility, CSR, initiatives to support a not-for-profit charitable cause working to provide better health awareness to the people of the UAE. The funds raised for FoCP - which has provided financial as well as emotional support to more than 900 cancer patients to date - will be used for cancer awareness and provision of free treatment to patients. Dr. Abi Rached set off on 17th August and reached the summit of Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world, on 25th August. Speaking of the funds raised through this initiative, Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, Secretary-General for the Friends of Cancer Patients charitable society, said, \"We are thankful to the Eton Institute for this wonderful and innovative way of raising funds for cancer awareness programmes and treatment in UAE. The funds generated will not just benefit many cancer patients but by climbing Kilimanjaro, the Eton Institute has caught the world\'s attention for this noteworthy issue that plagues so many families across the world. It is an incentive for other companies to get involved with such impactful CSR efforts and make a difference. We are thankful to everyone who pledged or donated funds for cancer. The money raised will go a long way towards supporting cancer patients.\" Commenting on conquering Africa\'s highest peak, the Eton Institute\'s CEO said, \"The trek has been an exhilarating experience. We took the UAE spirit with us to the highest peak in Africa and raised the UAE flag high on top of the summit. We believe in the work being done by the Friends of Cancer Patients. Hundreds of patients have already benefited from their support whereas dozens are currently receiving relief in the form of financial assistance, medical advice or social support. This is the reason why FoCP was picked as the beneficiary for our trek.
