Favorable recovery for Argentina\'s Kirchner

Argentina's President Cristina Kirchner is healing up well after surgery last month to remove a blood clot on her brain, her doctors said in a statement. Kirchner "continues to show favorable post-operative progress," said the statement released by physicians at the private Buenos Aires hospital that performed the procedure. The Fundacion Favaloro hospital said a brain scan will be taken at about the one-month mark after the October 8 surgery, to confirm that Kirchner's recovery continues on track. The 60-year old leader required surgery to remove the blood clot that had developed after striking her head several months ago during a fall. Her oldest son Maximo told AFP last week that his mother was "well, and in good spirits" following the surgery, which came just a few weeks before midterm elections that saw her Peronist party take a hit.
