
Health Minister Sadiq bin Abdulkarim Al-Shehabi today received the delegation which attended the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee meeting and discussed recommendations to step up preparations to avert any potential outbreak of Ebola virus in Bahrain.
Chaired by Health Ministry Assistant-Undersecretary for Primary Care and Public Health Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al-Jalahma, the delegation also included Public Health director Mariam Al-Hajeri, Public and International Relations director Anissa Al-Huwaihi and Family Medicine Consultant Dr. Mai Al-Saffar.
The minister stressed resolved to follow-up the implementation of the recommendations set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee and keep abreast of regional and international developments regarding dangerous diseases, which include the deadly Ebola virus.
He announced that the minister would review its preparations and draw up contingency plans to counter any potential Ebola. In this regard, he revealed he revealed that ministry would host a WHO delegation of experts to review preparations and devise a contingency plan.
