Health Ministry on Saturday denied media reports that a citizen has died of a bird flu in Sharqia governorate.
The reports are completely false and groundless, said head of the preventive medicine department in Sharqia Khalid Fawzy.
Fawzy asserted that a baby girl died, in Abu Kabir Central Hospital, of seasonal flu associated with double pneumonia not bird flu.
As many as 56 bird flu suspected cases have been reported, but all the samples have turned out to be negative, he added
The Health Ministry on Thursday affirmed that it is closely following up the epidemic situation of the bird flu virus throughout Egypt's governorates.
In a statement, the ministry said that there is close cooperation with the veterinary medicine, which is affiliated to the Agriculture Ministry to report any bird flu spots nationwide.
