The healthcare sector in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) is gearing up for a vigorous expansion of 14 per cent per year in job opportunities, said a study. This forecast is amplified by the fact that support occupations worldwide will expand by 34.5 per cent until 2020. This robust growth is very positive news for the UAE economy, the health sector, the individual hospitals and supporting institutions. The news will also be warmly applauded by graduates, students and professionals in the health fraternity, since it exponentially multiplies their employment options. One influential reason for the skyrocketing in healthcare jobs is that the industry is collectively upgrading its facilities and expertise to world-class standards. In fact in some cases such as Saudi German Hospital-Dubai, some standards actually surpass the levels of their European and American counterparts. The growing demand for medical recruits was illustrated by the participation of Saudi German Hospital-Dubai in the 6th edition of Employers Day. This was held at the Dubai Women’s College, and representatives from the hospital energetically showcased the hospital’s attractions to prospective graduates. Dr Mohaymen Abdelghany, CEO of Saudi German Hospital-Dubai, was extremely upbeat about the outcome of Employers Day: “This event is just what the doctor ordered. It gave us a platform to introduce our hospital as a socially responsible, regionally admirable and globally commendable organization”. It is envisaged that at this pace of growth, UAE institutions will become an extremely desirable source of knowledge, where professionals from elsewhere come to learn the latest best practice before disseminating it back in Europe and the US.
