Aspiring to be a corporate warrior but at the same time want to be supermom to your kids too? Some suggestions as to how you can balance your career and family life, without compromising on either. There are many married working women in India today, who aspire to have full-fledged careers, in spite of the many responsibilities that marriage gets along with it. But a lot of them are guilty that while they are focussing on their careers, they don't give enough quality time to their family. Here's how to get the balancing act right. Be more organised: Make a list of activities you have to do during the day at work and mark the importance of each activity. This may sound difficult, but once you are better organised at work, you are likely to be more efficient and will meet your deadlines faster. This will leave you having more personal time. Don't bring home your work: Most of us do the mistake of bringing home our work. While it's okay to work at home once in a while, don't make it a regular feature. Try to switch off your phone, when you are spending time at home. Try to make the most of your family time: Get involved with hobbies and plan outings and activities that all of you can do together. Simple activities like cooking in the kitchen or playing an outdoor sport are great ways to bond. Go for movies, picnics or long drives once in a while. Make it a point to take an annual vacation with your entire family, no matter how busy you are. Disconnect yourself from work as much as possible during such breaks. Spend time with your husband: Many working women tend to focus all their energies on their kids, but this leaves them very little alone time with their husbands. Make time everyday to talk to your husband, even if you have had a gruelling schedule. Don't let work or being a mother get in the way of your sex life with your husband. Make time for yourself: In the juggle between managing family and work, we often forget to take care of ourselves. Too much work can lead to stress, anxiety and even health problems. Your family won't benefit if you are grumpy around them all the time. So make time for yourself, and pay attention to your health.
