World-renowned Italian surgeon Bruno Gridelli is directing the 2012 International Telemedicine Symposium in Brussels next month, organizers said Wednesday. Gridelli, the head of the Palermo-based Mediterranean Institute for Transplantation and Specialization Therapies (ISMETT), and codirector John Williams will focus on various clinical aspects of so-called eHealth, or telehealth, at the upcoming symposium June 6-8 geared towards health professionals and policymakers. The relatively recent field in healthcare refers to any process supported by electronic communication, such as digitized health records and telemedicine, when treatments are performed remotely.
