Health Minister Abdul Latif Wreikat said Jordan shoulders economic, health and social burdens due to the presence of large numbers of Syrian refugees who fled to Jordan due to the turmoil in their country. At a meeting with Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Jordan Akram Eltom, he said Jordan was shouldering its humanitarian role towards the Syrian refugees despite its difficult economic conditions and the lack of resources. The ministry, he said was providing health and medical services to the refugees, adding this was placing huge pressure on hospitals and health centers in northern Jordan. The WHO official expressed appreciation of Jordan\'s efforts to offer health services to the displaced Syrians, adding WHO will support Jordan\'s efforts to assist the refugees as the Kingdom was shouldering huge economic, health and social burdens due to the presence of thousands of Syrians on its territory. He also urged world countries and international organization to offer technical and financial aid to the Kingdom to enable it to continue its role towards the refugees.
