
Kuwait will host the ninth Pan-Arab Congress in PhysicalMedicine and Rehabilitation in 2015 in cooperation with the International Society ofPhysical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) and the European Society of Physicaland Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM).The announcement came during Kuwait's participation in the eighth Pan ArabCongress held currently in Jordan under the theme (Rehabilitation Without Barriers).Kuwait is contributing three research papers at the event, Secretary of KuwaitPhysical Therapy Association (KPTA) Salem Al-Kandari told KUNA on Wednesday.Al-Kandari himself is presenting one of the research papers, along with others byhead of the physical therapy department at Amiri Hospital Dr. Mohy Al-Deen, amongothers.One of the research papers is related to using botulinum toxin to treat spasticparalysis caused by strokes, and studying patients' recovery process and theirability to walk again, Al-Kandari noted.The congress is a good opportunity to exchange experience in the field with otherdoctors, and to invite participants to attend the upcoming conference in Kuwait,which will be attended by international experts, he said.Kuwait is among the top Arab countries in physical therapy and in providing medical care for the handicapped, said Al-Kandari.KPTA, established in 1996, is cooperating with similar international societies andhas recently joined the World Organization of Natural Medicine (WONM), he added. Jordan's three-day conference kicked off on Tuesday with the participation ofdoctors from 23 Arab and international countries. The doctors will discuss 64scientific research topics and will hold 20 sub-meetings in the event.
