
Kuwait has urged the need for the international community to move in a coordinated and sustained manner to tackle hunger and achieve the requirements of food security.
This came in a statement delivered by the Third Secretary of Kuwait's permanent UN delegation Ahmad Al-Jassar at the Economic Committee, amid talks on agricultural development and food security.
Kuwait continues to support international efforts for enabling developing and underdeveloped nations reach sustainable and agricultural development in order to achieve food security, he said.
Since it was founded, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has contributed more than USD 18 billion through 931 development projects to over 100 countries - Some USD 1.9 billion of these were focused on the development of the agricultural sector.
Separately on climate change, Kuwait called on the international community to do more to tackle its negative effects through "serious national strategies" based on international conventions.
