Medical experts skeptical about planned Ebola drug trials

The planned trials of experimental Ebola drugs in West Africa do not have the full support of medical experts because there is not enough proof that these drugs work, the World Health
Organization (WHO) said Friday, dpa reported.
There are only a small number of really promising drugs, WHO official Martin Friede said, dampening hopes for a quick cure for Ebola.
The medical aid group Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) announced Thursday that it planned tests starting in December of the Japanese influenza drug Favipiravir in Guinea and the US experimental antiviral drug Brincidofovir at a location to be determined.
MSF chose these two drugs because they would be quickly available in large amounts if the trial results are positive.
