Investigations into physical and psychological issues faced by U.S. submarine crews will receive research and development support services from SAIC. Under terms of a contract from the U.S. Naval Medical Logistics Command, SAIC\'s support of to the Naval Submarine Medical Research Laboratory will include investigations of medical, psychological, physiological and other issues associated with the health and performance of Navy personnel in operational and non-operational settings. \"Research and testing conducted under this contract will be broad in scope and encompass a wide range of disciplines, covering all aspects of submariner wellness, submariner psychological factors, shipboard force health protection, human factors and undersea warfighter capabilities,\" the company said. The contract is for one year, with four one-year options. If all options are exercised, the value of the award would be about $22 million. \"We look forward to continuing to provide the NSMRL with subject matter expertise relating to Navy and Department of Defense-wide medical issues to support undersea warfighters,\" said Steve Comber, senior vice president and business unit general manager of Science Applications International Corp.
