Depression affects men and women, rich and poor - it does not make distinctions. One of the most common psychiatric disorders in the world is the target of an initiative organized by the psychiatrists of Fatebenefratelli hospital in Milan for World Mental Health Day on Wednesday. The psychiatrists are calling their initiative \"Attaccati al Tram!\" which in Milanese dialect means \"Deal with it!\" In this case the phrase is meant as an invitation to the depressed to open themselves up and share their suffering - getting on a tram that leaves at 14:30 local time from Piazzale Segesta and arrives in Piazza Novembre at 17:30. Actors and musicians will take part in the awareness demonstration. \"Depression unfortunately is seen as a fault not not be confessed and is experienced with embarrassment and shame,\" said Claudio Mencacci, director of the psychiatric department of Fatebenefratelli hospital and president of the congress of the Italian Society of Psychiatrists currently meeting in Milan. \"In truth, it is an illness like any other and needs to be treated\".
