
More than 4,500 drug addicts received care in treatment centers under the Health sector during the first quarter of 2014, the National Office for Fight Against Drugs and Drug Addiction (ONLDT) told APS.
In total, 4 544 drug addicts, including 243 women received care during the first quarter of this year in intermediate care facilities for drugs addicts (CIST) and rehab centers (CCD),” said the interim CEO of the ONLDT Mohamed Benhalla in an interview with APS.
Regarding the family status of these drug addicts who were taken in charge in one of these centres, Benhalla said that “3701 are single and 772 married.”
Speaking about the age of the drug addicts taken in charge, he said that 1708 are aged between 26 and 35, 1691 between 16 and 25, 928 drug addicts are more than 35 years old and 217 are less than 15 years old.
He said that the drug addicts’ treatment and the drug addiction are an “important component” in the fight against this scourge, recalling, in this regard, the multiannual program for the establishment of a vast network of support centers in various regions of the country.
