MSF: Ongoing violence curbs ability to operate safely in Afghanistan

The organization of Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) (Doctors Without Borders) condemned Sunday ongoing violence against humanitarian workers and facilities in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. In a statement, MSF called on all parties involved in Afghanistan to respect humanitarian and aid workers, noting on \"the need for impartial humanitarian assistance remains acute in Afghanistan.\" The organization added that they there was urgent need for impartial aid in Afghanistan, but ongoing violence curbs capability of organizations to operate properly, particularly to Afghan people who need aid the most. Last Wednesday, attack on an office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Jalalabad resulted in the killing of an ICRC staff member, and the injury of two others. In Afghanistan, MSF works in Ahmad Shah Baba Hospital in eastern Kabul and Boost Hospital in Lashkargah, Helmand Province. MSF relies solely on private donations for its work in Afghanistan and does not accept any government funding.
