Myanmar takes preventive measures against Ebola

Myanmar is taking preventive measures against the spread of Ebola in the wake of discovery of such disease in four western African countries.
Myanmar has started to screen and monitor the epidemic at airports and ports by using modern equipment, and training courses and infection control programs are being carried out at heathcare facilities with establishment of isolation wards there.
According to a statement by the Health Ministry on Sunday, the ministry is cooperating with its counterparts of other countries, UN agencies, local international non-governmental organizations and civil societies for the preventive measures.
"No one is yet detected with infection of Ebola," the statement said.
The statement added that Myanmar is also now seriously monitoring to prevent H7N9 and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona (MERS-CoV), which are still threatening people in some countries during these years.
Ebola virus is said to be hardly controlled and it can spread through mucous, other body fluid or secretions such as stool, urine, saliva and semen of infected people.
Four western African countries -- Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone -- have reported 729 deaths from Ebola virus with 1, 323 infected between March and July.
