The Ministry of Health will start providing pilgrims with necessary vaccinations during the first week of October at 36 preventive centers around Kuwait, a top ministry official announced recently. The Director of the Public Health Department, Dr. Yousuf Mendekar, indicated that 25,000 vaccines each against meningitis, flu, and pneumococcal were available for those going to perform the Hajj this year. Mendekar also announced that no cases of SARS or coronavirus infection have been detected in Kuwait, and reiterated that as per the ministry’s communication with the World Health Organization, there was no need to declare a state of emergency following the discovery of the deadly disease in Saudi Arabia.
