A 5-day polio vaccination campaign was launched in several provinces, targeting children under 5 years old.
In Idleb, the vaccination official at the Health Directorate Hassan Rahhal told SANA that the campaign, which was launched Sunday and targets 210 thousand children in the province, has witnessed high turnout by the locals.
He pointed out that Health Directorate dedicated 41 mobile teams to reach the makeshift centers sheltering displaced citizens, as well as the villages that have no health centers.
“The campaign aims at immunizing children against diseases and improving the health situation in the province,” Rahhal said.
In a similar statement, the vaccination official at Hasaka Health Directorate, Bassam al-Heiji said that this round of immunization targets 108 thousand children in the province, adding that 30 mobile teams were formed to cover the targeted areas.
“15 thousand male and female children were vaccinated on the first day of the campaign,” al-Heiji said.
The campaign, which lasts until Thursday, is organized by Ministry of Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s’ Fund (UNICEF).
