Now, its not common to come across people who swear not to drink excessively in the morning and get drunk that same night at a party or some social gathering or just by themselves. For people who fall in this category, it must be as frustrating not being able to keep their promises to themselves as much as controlling their drinking. The morning-after hangover is cause enough for another frustration altogether. Shamoli Sen, 27, suggests, "While its not always possible to control your drinking, it helps to at least monitor the way of drinking. I mean, drinking slowly helps avoid a hangover as much as consuming lots of water before going to a party where you will be drinking helps. Enough water in the system ensures that the alcohol does not leave behind a drunken feeling." While it's a well-known fact that not having the drink on the rocks helps avoid getting drunk, people with a drinking problem or who often drink heavily on social occasions tend to ignore that fact. For such people, it would do good to consciously control the alcohol consumption by gorging on side dishes or starters more than the drink. Alternatively, after having a glass of drink, you should consciously try to move away from the alcohol by distracting yourself with friends, dancing, etc. It will also help if you plan once-a-month party session with friends when you get your fill to the fullest and avoid drinking the other 29 days.
