Second west Nile-infected mosquito pool found in Boston

Health officials in Massachusetts confirmed they've located a second West Nile-infected mosquito pool in Boston. Earlier this week, a mosquito pool in Jamaica Plain, a Boston neighborhood, also tested positive for the West Nile virus.
So far this summer, no humans have been infected with the virus. There were six confirmed incidents of West Nile in Massachusetts in 2013, and the virus has been found in the state every year since 2000 -- so the latest news isn't exactly unusual. Mosquito pools infected with West Nile have also been found in Georgia and Indiana.
According to the CDC, the vast majority of people infected show no symptoms at all. About 20 percent will develop a fever as well as one or more of the following: headaches, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea or rash. A much smaller percentage -- about one percent -- may develop more serious symptoms like paralysis or neurological complications.
The disease usually only proves fatal for those with an already weakened immune system. In 2013, 114 people in the United States died after becoming infected with the disease.
