Beijing - XINHUA

Senegalese doctors say they respect their Chinese counterparts for services characterized by rigor and seriousness in the West African country. They expressed appreciation of the 14th Chinese medical team on Wednesday at the conclusion of its two-year mission at the Pikine National Hospital Center (CHNP) in the capital Dakar. At a ceremony to bid farewell, an agreement was signed to hand over medical equipment worth more than 120 million CFA Franc (about 241,000 U. S. dollars) to the China-Senegal Malaria Treatment and Prevention Center. \"They were at the hospital all the time and they intervened in various sectors of the hospital. But what pleased me most with the outgoing mission, was their respect for authority,\" CHNP Director Khadidiatou Sarr Kebe said. She urged developing countries to cooperate with China and to emulate the Chinese example. \"These countries have a lot to emulate from the behavior of the Chinese people who are very hard working, disciplined and with a lot of rigor,\" she told the gathering. \"They respected the regulations of courtesy, time keeping and respect for the Senegalese officials under whom they worked. They integrated very well into our teams and conformed to the hospital\'s rule,\" she added. Other Senegalese doctors at the hospital also spoke highly of the Chinese team for serious working and friendship with their Senegalese counterparts. \"This is the third Chinese medical mission with which I have worked. Since its arrival, we have had very friendly working relationship,\" said Ababacar Diop, a surgeon at the Pikine hospital. The chairman of the association of Senegalese journalists working on health, population and development, Mbagnick Diouf, welcomed the Chinese cooperation in the health sector. The cooperation is important as Senegal cannot manage to treat all kinds of diseases.
