In conformity with the directives of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa on improving health services provided for Sickle anemia patients, the Kingdom of Bahrain hosts a high-level delegation of Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, US, to assess the existing health care services provided for the same patients.
Health Assistant Undersecretary for Hospitals, Dr. Waleed Al-Mani', today received the visiting delegation and gave a brief summary on the sickle cell patients' conditions in Salmaniya Medical Complex. The meeting was attended by a number of doctors specialized in the treatment of the sickle cell disease.
He led the delegation on a tour around the Accident and Emergency Department and Sickle Cell Wards, where he gave an overview of the services provided.
During the three-day visit, the delegation will hold a number of meetings with medical and nursing staff to enhance information on the health care services provided for sickle cell patients and to give useful tips on improving the services.
The delegation is scheduled to visit Yusuf Engineer Health Centre to learn about primary care services provided for this category of the patients. The delegation will also meet with Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Anemia Patient Care to explore cooperation and to activate principles of partnership between patients and health care providers.
