America's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials voiced their concern that Trans Fats can no longer be considered and must be banned. Trans Fats are a certain type of unsaturated fats that have Hydrocarbons. They are present in a number of food types such as biscuits and frozen pizza. They are now considered a risk that leads to coronary heart disease. Commissioner of FDA Margaret Hamburg said today that Trans Fats remain a significant public health risk despite the decrease in the level of its intake in the last two decades. She noted that the FDA could save Americans from 20,000 heart attacks and 7,000 deaths a year if they manage to achieve an additional decrease in Trans Fats' intake. The FDA is planning to convert Trans Fats' classification to a food additive, which means it can no longer be used without official approval.
