Young cancer patients celebrate Eid

On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr, HH Princess Dina Mired, director general of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF), on Wednesday distributed gifts to young cancer patients. The celebration was held in the paediatric department of the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC) in the presence of its chairman, Dr Iyad Sultan, and the head of the paediatric intensive care section, Dr Nesreen Faqih, according to a KHCF statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times. The gift distribution ceremony is part of KHCF’s Dreams Come True programme, which has become an annual tradition at the KHCC. ”Stemming from th belief that granting gifts to young patients and drawing smiles on their faces is a very important factor to their overall healing process, it constitutes an integral part in the psychological and spiritual support they need through their different and lengthy treatment stages,\" the statement said. “Seeing the smile on the faces of our patients when they receive a gift is such an important step in the healing process for them... Our wish for every day is for every single patient to achieve a full recovery,” Princess Dina said. During the visit, she also checked on the health of the patients at the centre and was briefed by supervising doctors about their condition and treatment. The patients and their families expressed their appreciation for the princess’ visit and for bringing much-needed relief, laughter and smiles to the KHCC paediatric department, according to the statement.
