One Egyptian was killed and three others were injured in an explosion at an Egyptian-church services building, in the Libyan city of Misrata, on Saturday evening. The spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, Amr Rushdie, told reporters that the Egyptian embassy in Tripoli received a telephone call on Sunday morning from the head of the Coptic Orthodox church in the city, father Timotheus Bishara Adli, informing him of the explosion. He confirmed that one Egyptian was killed and three were injured. Judge Hatem Abdelkader, caretaker diplomat, immediately contacted Father Marcus Zaghloul, the Misrata church’s priest, to check up on members of the congregation. Consul Tareq Dahroug also left for Misrata to visit the church. The Egyptian embassy contacted the Libyan Interior and Defence Ministries to arrange for heightened security at Egyptian church locations in Libya, as well as following up investigations and checking on the health of injured Egyptians.
