One killed, several injured in Mauritanian protest

Sources in the state of Gorgol, southern Mauritania, told “Arabstoday” that the security situation in Maghama city is almost out of control; after one person was killed and several others were injured. Black protesters were able to burn the headquarter of the civil affairs, and surrounded the headquarter of the National forces, and tried to strip its member of their weapons. A black demonstrator, Lemin Manka, was killed during the clashes,  to be the first one to die since the start of the protests against the administrative statistics last Saturday. In a telephone interview with “The Arabs today”, sources said that the victim was shot in his stomach by a policeman while he was participating in a demonstration to protest the crackdown on protesters in the city of Kihide Policemen were forced to use live ammunition to disperse the protesters, which resulted in casualties among the two sides, and forced the police to call for military reinforcement urgently to backup and support them.
