Eight policemen and five gunmen have been killed in ongoing clashes in the Nineveh district of Mosul, Iraq. A police source in the area told Arabstoday that an armed clash had occurred between gunmen believed to be from al-Qaeda and police forces. Speaking under the condition of anonymity, the source said the \"clashes are still ongoing, and security reinforcements have been called into the area.” The district of Nineveh has witnessed sporadic clashes since April 23, between the army and gunmen, following the army storming of a peaceful protest in Hawija Square.
