
Some 40 armed Huthi militants were killed on Friday in a car bomb attack targeting a security under their control in the southern Yemen province of Shabwah.
Security sources said the car bomb exploded, targeting Bayhan city security centre which is under the control of the Huthi militants, killing around 40 insurgents and wounding several others.
The Yemeni governorate of Shabwah the scene of violent clashes between tribesmen and the Huthi militants since about a week after Huthi militants attempted overrun the governorate.
According to local sources in the governorate armed Huthis managed earlier to control Bayhan and Ataq after limited clashes with the tribesmen.
Meanwhile, Yemeni political sources accused military leaders in the governorate loyal to deposed President Ali Abdullah Saleh of handing over the governorate to Huthi militants.
