Police in Somalia on Wednesday arrested five suspected Al-Shabaab militants in the capital Mogadishu where a grenade attack in Hamar-weyne district killed one person and wounded three others a day ago.
Hamar-weyne Police Station Commander, Abdukadir Ahmed Shire, told journalists that the security operation was aimed at pursuing perpetrators behind the grenade attack at the house of the state minister of defense on Tuesday night.
"Terrorists hurled grenade into the house of the state minister of defense last night. It wounded four people, and one of them died in the hospital," Shire said.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Al-Shabaab Islamist group carries out periodic attacks in Mogadishu in its fight against the Somali government.
Somalia's security forces and the African Union peacekeeping troops are battling the militants, and have pushed them back to southern Somalia.
