9 guards killed, injured in Yemen prison attack

Seven guards were killed and two others wounded in an attack on the main prison in Yemen's capital on Thursday in a bid to free inmates, a well-placed security source was quoted as telling the BBC. "A terrorist group attacked the central prison, and detonated a car bomb," the source said. The source noted that guards managed to confront the terrorists and forced them to flee. He, however, said that several inmates escaped the prison in the chaos. Source: MENA
