Four armed Al-Qaeda Islamic Maghreb members shot dead two Algerian soldiers on Thursday evening at a bogus checkpoint, according to local security sources. The soldiers were returning from Yossr to the barracks, where they work on the heights of Yossr, after receiving their salary. It's believed the operation was carefully planned; the soldiers were followed because the attackers knew they received their salaries on the 18th of every month, according to sources. The source told Arabstoday the members of the armed group killed the two soldiers at the fake barrier 5.30pm, after they stopped a transport bus to check the passengers' documents. The gunmen identified the two soldiers before shooting them. Following the attack military forces continued combing Yossr heights, in search of Al-Qaeda members in the region.
