Two al-Qaeda members have been killed by Algerian forces, a local source revealed on Monday. The Algerian anti-terrorism unit monitored the movement of the armed group to ambush Abdelmalek Droudkel's group in Tizi Ouzou, 100 km east of Algiers. Violent clashes followed the ambush, two militants were killed and five were arrested. The army forces recovered two Kalashnikovs from the deceased. Both bodies were transferred to the Tizi Ouzou hospital for identification. Sidi Ali Bouneb is the most dangerous zone in Tizi Ouzou because of its dense forests and rough paths, which is why Droudkel chose the area to base his group. Sidi Ali Bouned used to host meetings of al-Qaeda leaders, before they discovered the Algerian forces were combing the area. Droudkel is still located in the heights of Akfadou, between Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia.
