An opposition politician in Algeria has called on groups across the political spectrum to come together in the national interest. Jamal Bin Abdel Salam, leader of Party of Algerian Renewal, told party members in Algiers that dialogue is the best way to resolve the current political problems in Algeria and beyond. He disclosed that he had been in touch with Algerian and Arab movements to persuade them about developing a united front, to counter ?regional threats, and support the Palestinian cause. Abdel Salam said that Algeria cannot counter the threat posed by foreign intelligence agencies on its own. Commenting on politics at home, the Algerian politician highlighted the importance of next year\'s presidential elections, explaining that ?Algeria needs \"social reform\" which guarantees \"national unity and sovereignty.\"
